Last-minute travel insurance with Airport Express reminder promotion
Aviva, one of the world’s largest insurance companies, today launched a three-month promotional travel insurance campaign on the Airport Express, as part of a wider response to recent research.
According to independent research intelligence supplied by Media Partners International conducted on Airport Express Trains over a period of one week (3 – 9 June, 2002), 51% on average of Hong Kong residents travelling overseas had not arranged travel insurance. The research was conducted with a sample of more than 3,000 Airport Express passengers.
Aviva, in response, has extended the operating hours (5:45am to 1:15am everyday) of its already, responsive call centre to manage instant requests for travel insurance throughout the time that the Airport Express is in operation. Every train for a three-month period will have details of the insurance coverage available on window side stickers and the travel insurance hotline displayed on the back of each seat. Callers will be fully covered for travel insurance by simply calling for enrolment and approval will be within five minutes.
Ken Reid, Assistant General Manager of Aviva, talked about the importance of this initiative. “The survey results did not surprise us but they did act as a catalyst in our efforts to try and address this issue.
“People in Hong Kong travel frequently, whether on business or for pleasure, and insurance is something few have time or inclination to think about in advance. But, there are many incidents which can occur when travelling which are at best frustrating and at worst life-threatening. Our three-month promotion on the Airport Express is part of a wider campaign to make people aware of products available. Aviva is uniquely able to provide instant coverage from one phone call because of our own call centre which we established in 2001. Travellers can call on their way to the airport and by the time they board the plane, travel insurance is in place."
He continued: “Naturally we hope that the Airport Express campaign will instill good habits in travellers in the long term.”
