CGU Life Insurance Company of America, a fast-growing provider of life insurance and fixed-rate annuity products, changed its name to Aviva Life Insurance Company, effective today. The purpose of the name change, which applies to all its products in the US, is to leverage the global brand in financial services created by the parent company, London-based Aviva plc.

The Aviva name was chosen by the UK parent company because the name reflects the company’s focus on helping people meet their financial goals, is memorable, and travels well across languages and cultures. The parent’s name change to Aviva plc became effective 2 July, 2002.
