UK: RAC Auto Windscreens contributes to glass replacement application breakthrough

RAC Auto Windscreens is to become one of the first organisations to use a new all-in-one primer in its replacement glass and specialist glazing service, allowing technicians to attend jobs in all weather conditions.

The specific all-in-one primer, developed by RAC Auto Windscreens and Dow Automotive, could save fleet managers from costly downtime.

Extensive research and development from Dow Automotive has resulted in the discovery of BETAPRIMETM 5504, a new primer that dries quickly and can be used in extreme temperatures and damp weather.

Chris Bonsall, technical and safety manager for RAC Auto Windscreens, said: "This is a significant breakthrough for the auto-glazing market. RAC Auto Windscreens has been testing Dow Automotive's new primer on stand-alone pieces of laminated glass and discovered that, in practice, the application is useable in all types of weather conditions, including high and low temperatures or where there's precipitation."

Johanna West, senior account manager at Dow Automotive, said: "Over the past two and half years, RAC Auto Windscreens has worked closely with us to produce an aftermarket specific all-in-one primer which offers a simple, fast and effective solution to glass replacement application that can be used in temperatures ranging from -5°C to 40°C, and even in damp conditions on virtually any type of bond line."
