Norwich Union Healthcare today announced the introduction of a new Bereavement Helpline to offer additional support to relatives and partners of Group Life customers who have passed away. The helpline can also be used by Group Life customers who have suffered bereavement themselves.
The 24 hour confidential helpline, offered in conjunction with PPC Worldwide – one of the leading providers of Employee Assistance Programmes in the UK, is staffed by qualified bereavement counsellors able to offer emotional support as well as practical advice on issues such as probate. Where appropriate, they can refer the caller to specialist organisations for additional support, tailored to their specific needs.
Pam Stephens, head of group risk at Norwich Union Healthcare, said: “The death of a loved one can be extremely difficult to cope with and we are committed to helping our Group Life customers’ relatives in their time of need. The introduction of the bereavement helpline means that we can now support their families not just financially – through prompt settlement of their claim, but also emotionally.”
Fiona Healey, business development manager, PPC Worldwide, added: “We are delighted to be able to extend our relationship with Norwich Union Healthcare to offer their customers a bereavement helpline in addition to employee assistance and smoking cessation support. People often underestimate the impact bereavement can have on a family, and the complexity of issues such as arranging probate. Our dedicated team of bereavement counsellors can offer invaluable advice and support to help make the grieving process that bit easier.”
