Aviva France, a major supplier of life insurance and long-term savings, asset management and general insurance, is extending its Santhia range of complementary health insurance.
- Launches of Santhia Jeune, the Eco-Pharma Pack and enhancement of Santhia Senior
Aviva France, a major supplier of life insurance and long-term savings, asset management and general insurance, is extending its Santhia range of complementary health insurance:
- Launch of Santhia Jeune, a new policy designed for young people
- Creation of an innovative offering: the Eco-Pharma Pack
- Enhancement of the Santhia Senior policy
Claude Zaouati, director of non-life and health insurance products at Aviva France: “Launched in April 2008, Santhia complementary health insurance is characterised by targeted offerings that allow people to design their own tailor-made coverage. By launching Santhia Jeune, creating the Eco-Pharma Pack and enhancing Santhia Senior, we wanted to take personalisation further and respond even more to our customers' expectations.”
Santhia Jeune
Complementary health insurance to suit any budget
The French often wrongly think that they will be reimbursed for their expenses if they are hospitalised, but certain types of expense are not covered by social security: extra charges, a private room, daily rates. These costs may amount to several hundred euros and they cannot be avoided.
Designed for students, young professionals and the children of policyholders under 30, Santhia Jeune is characterised by its simplicity, with just one formula and two options. The young policyholders are reimbursed for essential items in return for very affordable contributions. All “comfort” expenses are optional, so the coverage and budget can be adjusted according to their needs. Premiums range from €12.67 to €17.50 per month depending on the residential area.
Aviva's main strength is that it is the only company to offer reimbursement of real hospitalisation costs to this customer segment.
This offering can be supplemented with two options:
- Hospital assistance: for €1 per month, the policyholder receives a flat rate of €8 per day of hospitalisation without the need to submit receipts, to cover their incidental expenses (eg TV rental, magazine purchases). This flat rate is paid from the first day in case of an accident or from the fourth day in case of illness.
- Health comfort: two option levels for €4 or €6 per month to enhance reimbursements for “comfort” items: optical/dental comfort, well-being (osteopathy, contraception, non-refunded pharmaceuticals), a private room, assistance in France and abroad (repatriation, luggage loss, advances on costs in case of prosecution), third-party liability insurance, exam failure insurance with the facility to refund up to €5,000 in case of repetition (hospitalisation, death of a relative, accident of a relative).
Complementary health insurance to make young people's lives easier
All students are free to choose their complementary health insurance and their student insurance company to manage the social security portion of their health expenses. However, these are not the only ways for them to insure themselves in terms of health. To complement the student social security system, students can opt for Aviva complementary health insurance. The policyholder benefits from the same services such as agreements on the remote transmission of treatment forms with all those bodies for faster refunds.
Responsible complementary health insurance with key reimbursements at the best price
- Real hospitalisation costs (fees, accommodation costs, daily rate)
- Third-party payment
- Single rate up to 26 years
- 1+1+1 months free: one free month for three years for any subscription to Santhia Jeunes between 1 September and 31 December 2011 (see conditions in branch).
The Eco-Pharma Pack
A few figures about medicines in France:
- The French spend more than €500 each per year on medicines
- Health expense reimbursements: 65% by social security, 17% by complementary health insurance, 18% by households
- Pharmacy: the number one expense item for complementary health insurance policies ahead of optics, dental care, hospitalisation...
- 25% of consultations in France without prescription, against 37% in Germany (IMS Health).
As part of the Santhia range, Aviva is launching an innovative cover package offering a discount on premiums in return for a reduction of cover. The optional Eco-Pharma Pack offers policyholders the choice to waive reimbursement for blue and orange-label drugs, considered less effective by the French National Health Authority.
The pack makes it possible to lower insurance premiums by up to 12% per year depending on the formula and promotes “responsible” consumption by favouring genuinely useful medicines. A significant solution, bearing in mind that medicines represent the number one expense item for Aviva policyholders ahead of hospitalisation, optics or dental care.
Santhia Senior: complementary health insurance that gets better with age
As we age, our needs change and so do our health expenses. If you took out complementary health insurance many years ago, it is important to check that it is still up to date: reimbursement for alternative medicine (osteopathy, chiropractics, vaccination), enhanced reimbursement for hearing aids and hairpieces, reimbursement for spa treatments, non-reimbursed medicines (such as venotonics, support stockings).
Santhia Senior offers a choice of:
- Five levels of protection (up to 200% of the social security reimbursement rate for consultations, €250 per year for optics, 250% of the social security reimbursement rate for dentures)
- Three levels of optional packs to supplement the costliest expense items (optics, dental care, hearing aids and well-being) and one hospitalisation comfort pack (for fees and a private room).
Challenging misconceptions: changing complementary health insurance is easy!
In the minds of senior citizens, changing insurers and complementary health insurance often involves a new health check and therefore the possibility of a refused application. This is a real yet unjustified fear. Aviva does not select people on medical grounds, which means that nobody can be refused membership because of a medical issue. Similarly, Aviva does not increase individual premiums based on the policyholder's use of medicines. Lastly, the company cannot terminate the contract and every policyholder is covered for life.
At Aviva, there is no waiting period. From the day they join, policyholders are covered for all their expenses (pharmacy, consultation, dental care, hearing aids), with the option to join at up to 90 years of age and receive a discount for membership as a couple. So it is in their interest to check whether their cover matches their needs.
With the Santhia range, policyholders enjoy:
More advantages
- No medical questionnaire
- Immediate cover for life
- Join at up to 90 years of age.
More services
- 24-hour assistance
- Home delivery of urgent medicines, search for a doctor on call, ambulance
- Valuable assistance in case of unexpected hospitalisation or immobilisation for more than five days: up to 30 hours of home care, up to 30 days of pet care (dogs and cats)
- Free third-party payment for pharmacy, medical tests, radiology, outpatient care, opticians, medical professionals (physiotherapists, nurses, chiropodists, speech therapists, podiatrists, orthoptists).
