Much of the evidence we see suggests people are not preparing enough for the future.
Much of the evidence we see suggests people are not preparing enough for the future. And for young people saving can be particularly far from their minds – a recent poll of young people aged 16 to 29 by the IPPR suggests a third had less than £100 in savings.
In response to this, Aviva is launching a new project in UK schools to inspire young people to save. Partnering with the Ideas Foundation, we are asking school children aged between 11-18 to use their imagination to create a new way to motivate young people to save.
This was inspired by our Future Prosperity Panel – a group of experts convened to debate future prosperity. One of the ideas born from this was the need to change the savings culture especially amongst younger people.
The ideas will be judged by a panel of experts and the team with the most creative and effective idea will win a bespoke work placement as well as the chance for their idea to be made a reality.
Some Aviva employees will also be visiting the schools to speak to students about the importance of savings and you can read their blog posts.
