Aviva, Europe’s leading life and pension insurance group, has succeeded in collecting 1,938 kilograms of food as part of the third “Operation Kilo” in which the company participates annually at this time of the year.
- This is the third “Operation Kilo” campaign to be launched, and this year it has achieved 30% more food than in 2011.
- For each kilo of food obtained, the company donated two Euros to the children’s aid charity Aldeas Infantiles SOS, ONG, with which it has been working regularly since 2011 by way of a range of voluntary corporate aid programmes.
Aviva, Europe’s leading life and pension insurance group, has succeeded in collecting 1,938 kilograms of food as part of the third “Operation Kilo” in which the company participates annually at this time of the year. Everything which is collected is donated to the food banks in the localities in which the company maintains offices.
Members of staff from the entire national territory took part voluntarily in the initiative, donating surplus quantities of food, or donating money which they would have previously used to buy food.
Aldeas Infantiles SOS received two Euros for every kilo received, being a total of 3,876.8 Euros. The money is destined for use in financing new food supplies by the ONG at day centres for providing aid to families encountering problems in providing the basic necessities for their children.
Ana Sanz, RSC director at Aviva España, points out that “22% of Spanish households are below the poverty line, and more than 2 million children have been affected by this situation. By providing the highest possible participation and involvement, Aviva staff have once again shown their sense of responsibility towards the communities among whom we work, and where we have always acted as a means of establishing cohesion”.
