Dayinsure, in partnership with Aviva, the UK’s largest insurer, has launched a short term motor insurance solution for people learning to drive. Unlike almost any other offering currently available, Dayinsure Learner can be bought to provide cover from just 1 day up to 3 months. It is available for any motorist aged 17 and over who holds a provisional driving licence and meets the acceptance criteria*.
Dayinsure Learner provides temporary insurance enabling a learner driver to borrow a car to practise driving. Adding a provisional licence holder to an annual policy can be expensive, with any subsequent claim affecting the No Claim Discount and invoking a large excess. The standalone Dayinsure Learner policy helps to address these issues.
Brian Spinks, head of broker personal lines, Aviva UKGI explains: “We fully recognise the difficulties that buying insurance as a learner driver can present, particularly for young drivers and their families. We are, therefore, especially delighted that Dayinsure Learner provides a cost-effective, flexible solution that allows them to perfect their driving skills without breaking the bank.”
Dayinsure Learner has been designed to exclude cover between the hours of 10pm and 6am , when the majority of learner drivers are least likely to be practising their driving skills. This has been key in keeping the cost of cover as low as possible. Brian Spinks continues: “By limiting the hours we provide cover we are able to not only keep our prices competitively low, but offer an excess of just £250; the excess for a young driver on an annual policy will typically be from £500 upwards. Learning to drive should be an exciting time for anybody, irrespective of age, and with Dayinsure Learner people can embark on their driving dream with one less worry.”
Policies can be bought online within minutes from as little as £2.50** a day, with insurance documents emailed instantly to the policyholder at the time of purchase. Offering the ultimate in convenience, Dayinsure Learner can also be bought via smartphones and tablets. What’s more, policyholders benefit from Aviva’s award-winning claims service which offers access to 24/7 claims helplines, 365 days a year.
Dennis Ryan, Chairman of Dayinsure.com Ltd concludes: “We are really excited to be working in partnership with Aviva to bring this new offering to market. Adding a learner driver to an existing annual insurance policy can be very expensive for family or friends, often increasing the cost by several hundred pounds. And for some families whose only household car is a company vehicle, adding a young learner to an existing insurance policy simply isn’t an option. However, Dayinsure Learner offers beginners a practical, value-for-money solution to this age-old problem, with the added benefit of being able to purchase cover for as long or as short a time as required.”
