Building a sustainable future for our customers, for ourselves is going to take bold actions and decisive leadership. I’m determined that Aviva plays our part to the full.
We’ve focussed on our key ambitions:

We're taking social action.
We have donated over £11m to our partners Citizens Advice to help our communities with their financial resilience.
Contributed over £17 million to over 8,800 UK local change makers through the Aviva Community Fund since 2015.
Spent 107,810 hours volunteering in 2024.
Invested billions in UK infrastructure including:
Urban regeneration
Social housing
Renewable energy
and electronic vehicle charging networks.
We're taking climate action
We completed our renewable energy installations in Perth which is expected to generate 100% of the electricity demand. And use 100% renewable electricity across all other operations.
Making progress towards our 2040 Net Zero ambition and trying to help the UK to be the most climate-ready large economy.
On the ground we partnered with leading conservation charities to protect and restore biodiversity, and remove carbon from the atmosphere through a range of nature-based solutions, including reintroducing some of the UK’s lost rainforests.
We have invested £8.7 billion in sustainable assets since the end of 2019.
We’re embedding sustainability into our business.
Innovating to offer sustainable choices in our products, services and investments and supporting our customers with cost-of-living challenges.
Doing more to build a supportive, diverse and inclusive organisation.
91% of employees would recommend Aviva as a great place to work.
13% of senior leaders are from ethnically diverse communities, and 40% of senior management positions are held by women.

Sustainability is central to Aviva’s strategy. Addressing some of the biggest issues we face isn’t just about adapting to new realities; it’s an opportunity to invest in a sustainable future and a pathway to resilience, innovation and long-term value creation.
Taking climate action
Aviva is taking steps to help tackle the climate crisis.
Our ambition is to:
- Become a Net Zero company by 2040 1
- Achieve a 25% reduction in carbon intensity of assets by 2025, and 60% by 2030 1
- Help the markets we operate in (UK, Ireland and Canada) become climate-ready
Taking social action
For over 300 years, Aviva has played a part in the lives of our customers forming long-standing connections with communities.
Our ambition is:
- Help more than 13% of the UK population prepare for retirement and retire with Aviva 2
- Invest 2% average per annum profits into local communities 3
- Raise money for community projects across the UK with a combination of match-funding donations, partner donations and crowdfunding with the Aviva Community Fund
- Help people become more financially secure via our independent charity, the Aviva Foundation 4
Acting as a sustainable business
We want to make our industry work better for everybody.
To achieve our ambition, we are working to embed sustainability into every part of our business.
This includes ensuring clear accountability for action, transparent reporting, and respecting human rights.
It also means being an employer of choice through our focus on diversity and inclusion, and health and wellbeing.
Taking action in the places we live and work
We operate a place-based approach to build stronger, inclusive communities at a local level. We are helping to regenerate the places where we live and work, including the UK cities and communities where Aviva is a major employer. We focus on taking social and climate action to:
- enhance financial resilience, housing and infrastructure, and employability prospects
- insure and invest in energy transition and support climate adaptation while protecting and restoring nature
We partner with national and local causes to help us focus on priority challenges and opportunities. As the Founding Place Partner for the King’s Responsible Business Network (BITC), we support their ambition to improve 50 communities by 2032.
